My wife, Victoria, reminded me of a sweet story from a few years ago…
Our youngest daughter had made some money from doing chores, and from acting in a play at Houston’s Broadway class theatre, The Alley Theatre. At that time, her older sister was just starting out as a young adult and was having some financial challenges, not at all untypical for many in that time of life. So the younger one – she was right around age 10 – had a decision to make with all of this extra money that she had… Either to go shopping and buy stuff for herself, or something else altogether.
She chose the “something else”, and gave her money to her older sister. I seem to remember that it wasn’t a huge amount of money. But that didn’t matter at all… She gave out of love for her sister, never stopping to think whether she had enough to give or not.
This was Give Away A Dollar A Day in its most pure and loving form, as only a child could give.
Blessings, and joyful giving to you,
Todd

Write a Comment»I had an interesting lunch today Todd. On the way into a sandwich shop I crumpled a dollar bill and dropped it on the ground, right in the path to the door. I then sat so I could look out the window as I ate my lunch. About 40-50 people walked right over the dollar without picking it up. They must have thought it was trash. One guy even kicked it by accident. I kept waiting for someone to bend down and pick it up but nobody did. It was pretty amusing. I walked right over the bill on my way back to work and never did see who picked it up. Funny.
Hi Ernie,
Thanks for the interesting story! I have experienced this, too. My thought is that everyone is at their own level of deserving-ness or prosperity consciousness. What you are doing is blessing them with a surprise gift from the universe – some folks jump right in, and yet others hold back for whatever reason. If you haven’t read it yet, take a look at this story: toddsilva.com/the-dollar-bill-that-went-unclaimed-for-11-days/
Blessings to you!
