Bucks And Bolts

I gave away a dollar today in one of the aisles at Home Depot.

I’m getting “better” at this, because I gave myself ample time beforehand to say my gratitude of blessing, waited until no one was looking, and proceeded to effortlessly drop it out in the open. One of my own guidelines for Give Away A Dollar A Day is that I don’t want to look at who picks it up, or wait around until someone does.

But this time I dropped it in the hardware aisle and I legitimately stuck around because I was there to buy some bolts. While I was trying to figure out whether I needed 12 or 18 or 752.6 threads per inch, or something like that, I noticed, out of the corner of my eye, one, and perhaps two, adults walk right past the bill. It was very obviously out in the open, but they just moseyed on by it, and didn’t claim it!

Then, a dad and his son came by…

The boy, around 10 years old, said, with tempered excitement, “Oh wow, money!”, and picked it up… I think I’m going to have to go back and see if I want to reconsider that particular guideline! Because this was invaluable – adults passing up the “free” money just waiting there to be picked up and ignoring it as if it weren’t even there. But to a child… Well, he knew right away that it belonged to him!

I’m having a blast with this!

Blessings, and joyful giving to you and yours,

Todd
