For a semi old timer like me, the whole experience of the internet sometimes feels like it’s moving at a pace that is faster than I can keep up with. Too many friend invites, Twitter tweets, blogs to read, how can I manage all of this? But the bigger question is this – am I supposed to? In other words, am I… and, are we… wired for this?
OK, Ok, there are definitely times when I want to be “connected”. But there are other times in my day and in my week that I long for a simpler pace, like actually calling someone on the phone, or making a gift to take with me when visiting a friend (instead of hurrying to the store to buy a pre-made gift wrapped in a pre-made package).
So, I really want to thank my wife, Victoria, because she values this simpler life, and reminds me of the importance of it. I believe we’d all be much happier and healthier if we just slowed down a wee bit and smelled those ol’ proverbial roses.
