How To Deal With A Really, Really Bad Driver

I have been assigned a parking space in the garage where my office is. It’s really new, so I’ve only experienced parking there over the last couple days. However…

The driver in the spot to the left just seems to be one of those who either has acute astigmatism, severe cranial malfunction, or simply has it out for me. He (or she… haven’t seen or met this dear one yet) has come over into my parking space several times already. So much so the other day that I couldn’t park at all. Today was a little better, I could at least pull into my spot, but still a tighter squeeze than I would like.

I was angry. I wanted to write a nasty note. I wanted to meet this person and chew them out for being such a slob behind the wheel.

But then I did a little check-in with myself…

Here I was holding onto that all-to-familiar anger about another person. And I was about to take it with me into my work day. I then remembered that I had a choice. I could view this differently, if I wanted to.

So instead of putting a nasty note on their car, I put a dollar bill under the driver side wiper blade, blessed the car, and blessed the driver.

I have no idea if this will resolve anything at all. But I do know that I felt a lot better afterward.

I also know that this whole thing is now in Spirit’s hands…

Blessings to you and yours in joyous giving!

Todd

I like this - but in BonnieWorld, I would add something. When someone annoys me with their driving or parking, I imagine the unusual circumstances that surround this person and why they did what they did.

For instance, this guy Todd encounters daily probably has a problem with his leg so getting out of his vehicle is really difficult unless he encroaches on Todd’s spot. He’s embarrassed to get a handicap spot because his mom had one and kids made fun of him in school for it. He’s got all sorts of unresolved issues and Todd’s dollar made him very happy. Nobody’s ever done something nice like that for him before.

Just my way of dealing with things. In the future I’ll add a dollar to it and I’ll feel even better knowing that I’ve put some joy into someone’s life!
