I Just Serenaded Dr. Rick Barrett In His Car…

OK, now that I have your attention…

It’s not… quite… like it sounds…  :)

Dr. Rick Barrett, co-author with Dr. Joe Vitale of the book Give To Live, is a friend who has written some beautiful poetry that is in his book, and that I am putting to music. When we met for lunch late last week, I wanted for Rick to hear what I had done thus far, and had him listen to a couple of rough cut MP3′s on my iPod. But up to this point, the lead vocal is not yet sung by a person… instead it’s played by a piano. I wanted Rick to get a really good idea of the song, so I decided to sing it for him. I told him that I wasn’t sure how to do this, though, because – for obvious reasons – I wasn’t about to start singing to him in the restaurant… LOL

Then… Rick suggested that I could sing to him in his car. OK, that’s when I lost it… I was laughing so hard that the water I just sipped was coming out of my nose!!

Well, long story short, we finished our lunch, went out to his car, and I did sing to him. I’m glad I did because it gave him a much better understanding of the direction I was taking with his song. Too bad, though, that we didn’t get it on video…

Well… on second thought… maybe it’s a good thing we didn’t get it on video!

Enjoy all your good laughs today!

Todd

I wanted to comment about your most recent Give A Dollar a day email that I just received regarding the passing of your friends’ pet. I wanted to suggest that you donate things like cat litter or pet food to the local animal shelter or humane society. It’s always appreciated by them and it feels good to you! ;-)

    Hi Todd;

I love the idea of you singing the lead vocal line to your friend in his car…

    Very cool :-)

I did a talk on belief and perception last saturday and name dropped giveawayadollaraday.

I hid pound coins around the building to add weight to my argument that our perception does not always allow us to SEE money.

There are so many aspects to GAADAD.

As always, thank you for the difference you make in the world.

    See you on Oprah :-)

    Best

    Hi Mark,

Thanks for your note, my friend! Your stories about GAADAD are always really good, too. It reminded me of a trip I made to the post office yesterday… I “hid” my dollar in a corner of the glass of the self-serve postage machine. I remained curious while waiting in the main line to ship my parcel. Finally… a well meaning soul brought the dollar back into one of the postal workers and said, “someone left this”. The worker took it, looked at it and fiddled around with it… she couldn’t put it in her cash drawer because it would upset the accounting. So after a couple minutes, she gave in and put it up on a stack of papers behind the workers. I ended up shipping my parcel, STILL curious as to which postal worker would eventually just give in, snag it, and put it in their pocket!

Oh, Mark, if you want to hear the final version of that song that I sang to Rick in his car, you can listen here. I wrote and produced it, and Rick’s sister is the singer on the track.
