When I first started to Give Away A Dollar A Day, I journaled on what I was doing, how I was doing it, and what I was experiencing. I recently ran across some of those notes that I wrote early on about what I was learning along the way. I thought that it might be interesting for you to read. Here they are:
What have I learned? What am I learning?
I’ve learned that most people are really good, and want to return the dollar they just found to its rightful owner.
I’ve learned that some people prefer to look the other way and pretend they don’t notice it.
I’ve learned that some people are distrusting and think there’s a scam involved.
I’ve learned that some people are optimistic opportunists and just say “Thank you God”, and then pick it up and claim it as their own.
I’ve learned that I am no longer disinterested when I see even a dime on the ground. I am now grateful no matter what I find, even a penny.
Blessings to you this day!
Todd

I also learned to be grateful for whatever I see on the ground.
I think I felt it was worth my while to stop for quarters. But I would continue walking by pennies, nickels, and dimes.
Now if I see anything on the ground I will stop. Pick it up and say Thank you.
I have also learned how much fun this activity is to do with my kids. They get such a kick out of it. They laugh at the thought of someone finding something that they have hidden. That is awesome.
So thank you for teaching these lessons. My family and I have enjoyed them.
