Cheryl’s Art

I just have to tell you about Cheryl Paton.

I’m not sure how long she had been giving away a dollar a day, but she decided that she wanted to spice it up a bit by including some gift cards with each one of her give aways.

Cheryl’s an artist, and a really good one at that! You can see how Divine Inspiration comes through in all of the beautiful products she creates!

You absolutely must check these gift cards out!!

Thank you, Cheryl, for your gifts of creativity!

Blessings,

Todd

And More Ideas!

Tracy Brown sent me this list. I absolutely L O V E this! Thank you Tracy!!

In no particular order…

Tracy’s Top Ten Favorite Places to Leave A Dollar (so far):

  • Tucked inside the “baby changing” station in the women’s restroom in a restaurant or airport. Who needs a pick me up more than a busy, tired mom who is dealing with a crying, wet baby?
  • At the bus stop: rolled up and tucked into the holes on the pole of the bus stop sign or tucked between the slats of the bench where bus riders sit while waiting.
  • In the drug store tucked between 2 products likely to be purchased by someone having a bad day (for example, between 2 boxes of pain medication)
  • In the grocery store in the cereal aisle at child height – but always next to one of the healthier cereals.
  • Also in the grocery store, as I pull out a cart to use I’ll put a dollar bill in the next available cart for the next customer.
  • In any store that sells magazines, I stick a bill in the middle of a magazine so whoever buys that copy will find a special surprise.
  • At the public library I’ll put a dollar in the pages of a book on a currently “hot” topic . . . or in any of the books in the “new books” section.
  • At church I’ll put a dollar bill in the hymnal for the next person to find.
  • In the greeting cards rack I stick a dollar bill between cards, often in the get well, sympathy or encouragement section. I think people who buy cards to encourage others should get a little reward for themselves. :-)
  • I’ll fold a dollar bill into a small square and put it in the place where change is returned on vending machines.

You have sparked my imagination, Tracy, thank you so much!

Many blessings to you!

Ideas!

I’ve been wanting to post this one for a while!

From time to time, if no one is looking, I’ll take a picture of the dollar that I’ve just given away. So here are some shots for you – some creative ideas for giving away!

This if one of my all time favorites! …pretty easy to tell what it is!

Ah, the ol’ dollar-in-the-elevator trick!

Here’s one that I tried to slip underneath the cover of a copying machine, but someone kept taking it out and putting it up on the mail counter at our office!!

You’ve got to look close at this one – it’s a one dollar US coin sitting on top of an ATM machine. Here in the US, we rarely use these for money, opting instead for our familiar bills. But when I heard about my Canadian friends giving away “Loonies”, I just had to get in on some of the coin action and try it out!

Patiently waiting, on the lunch marquee of one our nearby deli’s, for the next unsuspecting recipient…

And last but certainly not least, strategically positioned at the parking lot security gate!

Blessings!

Celebrate! and Celebright!

A couple weeks ago, I subscribed to a daily e-mail that two very good friend of mine have created. It’s called Today’s Mantra, and it’s from Mr. 2020 and Carol Wingert.

Here’s the one that arrived on the morning of the Fourth -

Today’s Mantra is, “Celebrate!”

I almost wanted to write “Celebright!”. I know that’s not a word, but maybe it would be a great twist to Today’s Mantra.

Allow your personal celebration of freedom and liberty to brighten up your day. I was watching Carol yesterday photograph baby geese. It was amazing, she literally glowed.

She was like a little girl, celebrating life. The geese too were just having a great time, celebrating and enjoying being alive.

I think the magic key to celebrating is to notice that the world does seem brighter, when you decide to be thankful, and “celebright”.

This one in particularl grabbed me, because it reminded me of the many times that I feel like a little kid when I give away a dollar a day! Oh yes, there’s that “parental” part of me that says I shouldn’t be acting like this, behaving all child-like in public. Oh no, no, no…

But, there’s that authentic part of me that says that this is exactly what I should be doing in the moment that I’m doing it!!

So the next time you give away, remember to Celebrate, and to Celebright!!!

Blessings!

Todd

Flowing Both Ways

My good friend, John Crewdson, replied to an e-mail I sent where I asked about any challenges he might be having with every day giving. Here’s his reply:

Todd,

I must admit, I’ve been pretty lax about giving away a dollar a day. I just re-listened to a Hypnotic Gold Interview with Rabbi Lapin on his book “Thou Shall Prosper”. He described how we need to give money away to create channels for money to flow to us. He described it as us drilling holes in our shell so we could connect with the world around us – one of the ways to connect is by creating money channels that flow both ways.

Needless to say I am now re-energized and focused on Give Away A Dollar A Day.

Thanks for asking,

John

Thank you John! This is incredible insight!!

Blessings to you John, in all that you do and with everyone you inspire!!

Todd

PS – John is a Tai Chi Master, and a really good one at that! Check out John’s web site!!!

Thank You Ladybug!

For quite some time now, I have considered giving away to be an opportunity for me to release and to let go. As I was getting ready to give away my dollar, I would say a prayer for what I wanted to let go of, and then release that right as I was giving away, or “letting go” of my dollar.

Today, I walked down to the mail boxes to put some letters in the post. I had decided I was going to give away my dollar to the postman, and was ready to drop it in the outgoing mail slot.

But as I was walking toward the boxes, I was wondering what it was that I wanted to let go of. I was feeling pretty good at the moment, and it came to me that I didn’t so much want for this give away to hold the energy of letting go – I wanted it to hold the energy of joy and of gratitude for just being alive!

So I started to thank God for the beauty in everything!

I finally reached the drop slot, and guess what was there, waiting to greet me?…

A little ol’ ladybug!

I just had to repeat it – thank you God for everything!!

Blessings to you in joy and gratitude this day,

Todd

A $400 Increase!

I dearly love this incredible story from my friend Lenora in Las Vegas…

Since I’ve been giving away a dollar a day, my monthly income has increased by $400.

Here’s the story;

My husband has not been able to work for the past five years, presenting a considerable loss of income. Our home is large and costly. We have tried to sell it (not the best time for selling in today’s market).

Out of the blue, I received a phone call from a friend stating that she is going to send me $400 a month until my house sells! You can imagine my surprise and my prayers of thanks to God as I fell to my knees at the side of my bed. Our electric bill over the years has increased to $368 per month on a budget, and it’s one of the reason why this house is so costly, and now I have the money to pay it. I know that giving away a dollar a day (even though it is done unconditionally) has opened the door for me to receive. It’s the Law of Circulation in action.

And so my friend, it was no accident (it never is) that we were to meet. I don’t know what’s coming but I feel the excitement of it!

Love and Blessings to you and yours,

Namaste,

Lenora

I hope that this touching story has inspired you like it did when I first read it. Thank you again Lenora, and here’s wishing you and your family renewed blessings of abundance each and every day!

A Very Unusual Discovery!

Evidence that Give Away a Dollar a Day has prehistoric, possibly alien, origins:

Researchers in Southwest Pennsylvania have uncovered proof that Todd Silva’s Give Away a Dollar a Day predates not only Todd Silva, but all of mankind.

The attached photo is absolute proof, according to Mr. Twenty Twenty – a professional visionary from the region, that aliens started giving away dollars over 4 million years ago.

A Very Unusual Discovery

Local photographer, Carol J. Wingert, was brought to tears when she spotted what she now calls “his pink holiness”. Carol believes that this only living dinosaur must be a very holy dinosaur, representing the immortality that is possible if one just practices giving, and engages in Radical Gratitude.

More details will be released as they are declassified…

PS – This is an actual news flash written by Mr. Twenty Twenty…

Hey… I’m only reporting it as it was written……

Be Like A Child

This morning, when I was giving away my dollar, I was thinking (or, rather, listening to my inner critic…) about why I was doing this. It was as if I was questioning why I was still giving away a dollar, every day…

I’ve heard the words of the voice before, and this time the dribble wasn’t much different – “C’mon now Todd, you’re a grown man, and you’re still hiding dollars for people to find… What’s wrong with you? You’re acting like a little kid…”

I mentioned this to my wife later on.

Thank goodness for her refreshing insight! She reminded me what many of the great books and sages have said, “Be like a child”. And that children naturally do what so many of us adults have to work hard to do because we’ve forgotten – trust.

Thank you, Victoria, for reminding me. And for helping me to renew my commitment to the joyful excitement of Give Away A Dollar A Day, which has such remarkable effects for anyone of any age!

Blessings to you,

Todd

A Miracle From Giving

I “officially” started to Give Away A Dollar A Day in August of 2007. If you don’t already know about it, you can read the whole story here.

And, there’s another version that started about 10 years before that, which you can read about here.

However, I have not yet publicly told the story of the first time I truly experienced a miracle from giving…

It was in the fall of 1995. I had just been laid off from a company where I had worked for eight years. This was in complete surprise so I had no plans in place to update my resume and hit the trail to go out on the job hunt again. On top of that, I had been married for a little less than a year, with a brand new baby, and a new mortgage payment. This was not a good time to be laid off…

Within a few short weeks before this happened, my wife, Victoria, and I had started a course at Unity Church in Houston called the 4T Course, which is all about increasing prosperity through tithing your time, talent, and treasure (you don’t have to look hard to find the 4T’s in that title!)

Now I had not traditionally been an avid church goer, and so the whole idea of tithing on a regular basis, and in the amount of 10% of my income, was all new to me.

My fellow course students all knew when I got laid off – I had put out the word mostly for networking reasons. And although I don’t remember who said it, someone suggested that I increase my tithe to 10% of the amount that I desired to make in my NEXT position… You might want to read that again…

That sounded pretty magical to me, so I took up the suggestion. But there was this lingering thought in my mind that even though this was cool, it may not really work or pan out fully. Well, guess what, contacts and connections started pouring in, and I was once again gainfully employed within about two months. Here’s the incredible part, though – my new compensation was EXACTLY equal to what I had been tithing toward!

I was blown away! My wife was blown away! This was nothing short of a miracle from giving!!!

I kept up with the tithing, and eventually boosted it again to the next new level that I wanted to make. And… it happened AGAIN! This may be hard to believe, but it is very true, my total increase in income from before being laid off to three years later was a staggering 4 TIMES!!!

Tithing, giving, letting go, in faith, and in trust, works. Always.

Blessings to you in your newfound abundance,

Todd

Be. Do. Dream. Thrive.

I was in our local CVS Store, shopping for a birthday card for my nephew, Mark. He’s a young man who continues to inspire me with his belief in his own dreams, and who is now a successful car designer because he never stopped believing! So I knew I wanted to get him an uplifting, can-do kind of card.

I don’t think I was even in the card section for two seconds when I spotted this keeper…

I bought it right away, but…

I couldn’t yet leave the store because I hadn’t given away my dollar for the day. And this is where the fun really started…

Whenever I Give Away A Dollar A Day, I usually leave… well… a dollar! But e v e r y once in a while, I go for the stretch and leave a little more. This was one of those days… I left ten dollars!

But I got especially creative on this go-around. I had taken out ten ones beforehand, rolled them up tight, and rubber banded them together. So right before I left the card aisle, I put that roll inside of one of the Be Do Dream Thrive cards that was still up on the shelf.

So the next person to buy one of these inspirational cards…? Ooh yeah!!!!!

I love giving! And I am so grateful to be able to do it, every day!

Blessings,

Todd

Children’s Books

I just had an incredible experience… I was looking around the house for books from which I could find quotes on prosperity, for study and for possible inclusion in my weekly e-mail Inspirations From Give Away A Dollar A Day.

The more I looked, the more I realized my bookshelves were filled with books on self-improvement and how to GET more out of life.

I then went into my daughter’s room to look for a particular book I had remembered was filled with such joy and inspiration, “Life’s Little Instruction Book”. I couldn’t find that particular one, but what I found instead were plenty of books of imagination and where she could GO in life.

Wow! Kids are such an incredible blessing!!

My 30 Day Stockpile

This is kind of a give away idea, because it’s what I did recently when I went to the bank to “refill” my give away envelope! (where I store all my soon-to-be gifts :) )

Here’s what I do – I usually get thirty $1′s for the whole month ahead. Lately, though, I’ve been having some fun adding a single $10 to my stockpile so that, on one day of giving away, I’ll be giving away a $10!!

Well, today was even more magical! I got twenty $1′s, and I got that $10. But I also got ten $1 coins. This was inspired by my friends Marie and Sharon in Canada and Jenny in Ireland, because they give away coins and not paper bills. I decided I wanted to give it try and see what it’s like giving away coins! I’ll report back on that later…

But I did one more thing at the bank… I got ten more $1′s, and curled them up and bound them with a rubber band. So whoever finds this bundle will really be surprised when they unwrap the rubber band to find not one… and not two… but ten $1 bills!

Thank you Spirit, for this most blessed and magical gift of giving!

Blessings,

Todd
