What If?

According to current demographic estimates, there are about 220 million adults living in the United States today.

To save us all from the coming recession, the government is going to implement an economic stimulus package, which will include tax rebates for many working Americans and their families. How many Americans will actually receive checks, and how much the rebates will amount to is not yet fully known.

And now on to the What If’s…

What if, let’s say, 1 in 10 adults started to Give Away A Dollar A Day?

And what if 1 in 10 of those decided to make the commit to do it for the rest of their life?

(...getting out my calculator here…)

If I did the math correctly, that amounts to $803 million per year, year after year.

Now, if I understand it correctly, this stimulus package is valued at $146 billion. So that means that, if the population held steady, and just 1 in 10 of those 1 in 10 were to start today to Give Away A Dollar A Day, it might take us a little over a century and a half to do our own version of stimulating!

That may seem like a long time. But the real beauty of this approach is that it would not be a loan from the government that our children would have to pay back someday. It is true unconditional giving that each of us would begin doing right now! I’m talkin’ pumping up the economy by prospering each other!!!

And that’s the kind of stimulus for which I could give a two thumbs up in a heartbeat!

Blessings to you and yours in joyous every day giving,

Todd Silva
