One of the most fun places I’ve ever given away a dollar is at our local Marble Slab Creamery Ice Cream Store. In fact, I’ve even included it in one my weekly e-mails that I send out, Inspirations From Give Away A Dollar A Day. I received such joy the first time I did it that I just had to do it again!…
I took our younger daughter to buy ice cream at the same store we originally visited. Reaching into my pocket, with bill in hand, looking around for exactly the right moment when no one else was looking, I slipped my dollar into one of the napkin dispensers. It was a hot summer day in Houston, so there were quite a few folks in the store. After I made my “deposit”, a boy, around 10 or so years old, got up to get a napkin and found the dollar. I didn’t see him do it, but I heard him as he excitedly made his way back to the table to tell the others he had just found a dollar! But then something happened…
A couple of seconds later, he walked up to the cash register to give the bill to the manager saying that someone must have “left it”. The manager was a little confused, but took the bill anyway.
I couldn’t help but wonder… Did the young boy do this kind deed on his own, or did his mom tell him it wasn’t his and that he must return it to the store?
I’ll never know…
But it made me wonder what I would do if I my daughter found a dollar… I’d say “Good fortune to you! You’re now one dollar richer! And don’t forget to be grateful to Spirit!”
So, what would you do if your child found a dollar?
And, what would you do if you found a dollar?
Blessings to you in joyous giving, and receiving, this day,
Todd

I love this article. Tiny bits of programming seem to run huge portions of our lives. This programming is stuff we learned and forgot we learned when we were growing up.
Instead of programming the child to do “the right thing”, who knows what the “right thing” really was in this situation….
I wonder how many parents will read this article, and learn how important it is to celebrate with their child when a MIRACLE is experienced?
Maybe then, we would all notice, and celebrate more Miracles.
Thank you mate, you are the miracle man!

Thanks 2020,
I like the way you referred to the contrast there that tiny bits of programming produce the huge results. That is so true!!! I wrote this article mostly for parents. And, as a parent, I sometimes need to be conscious of questions like these as well!
Blessings to you,
Todd
Hi Todd,
How funny that I have this exact same programming in me! I found $5 in the parking lot the other day, and although I was very grateful, I felt a twinge of guilt for taking it from someone who might have “lost” it.
That lead me to my question… what do you think about leaving a sticky note on the dollar when you give it away? It might say something like “Whoever finds this, it’s yours to keep. Enjoy!” I thought that might help spread the feeling of prosperity to others and bypass some of their potential baggage around money. What are your thoughts on this?

Hi Pixie,
And thank you for writing. I have thought about including a note from time to time, and then I always decided not to because that would take the anonymous nature out of it. But that is my own personal choice. I encourage you to do what is right for you - and I actually think it’s a great idea, and can see how it would make it real clear to the finder!
Blessings to you Pixie,
Todd
